Secure Assets With Robotics and AI
Short Business Description:
The security sector is dealing with labor shortages, high staff turnover and low profit margins. This pain is so acute that incumbent Security Providers are not able to serve all their customers. Ascento provides robotic guards that can be hired by the hour. The service includes deployment, 24/7 support, service and repairs. The Ascento Web App analyzes video and images with AI, it integrates with existing video management systems, provides end-to-end encrypted two-way communication, and offers powerful reports that security managers want to see.
The global security market is facing low profitability (~3% net margin). The main reasons are very high costs due to a “guard-focused” operating model, where labor costs alone account for around 80% of total sales. Secondly, revenue growth has been stalled due the immense difficulties to recruit, onboard, train and retain guards. Working long shifts doing repetitive tasks, during anti- social hours and in any weather is not appealing in the long run. These challenges are so acute that incumbent security providers are struggling to serve their customers and have to turn down business.
By providing a robotics-as-a-service solution to security companies Ascento can address these key problems. The startup’s robotic guards are ideal for patrolling large, outdoor, private properties.
Ascento Guard can be easily installed and deployed. The robot can be hired by the hour, just like a human guard, and it includes deployment, 24/7 support, service and repairs. The Ascento Web App analyzes video and images with AI, it integrates with existing video management systems, provides end-to-end encrypted two-way communication, and offers powerful reports for security managers.
To give some examples, the robot can scan for thermal anomalies, check lights, doors and windows, patrol parking lots, take pictures of numbers plates and detect people. And robots won’t mind the weather.
Ascento, is founded by four people: Alessandro Morra acts as CEO, Miguel de la Iglesia Valls as CTO. Dominik Mannhart is in charge of hardware and design and Ciro Salzmann for electronics and software.
