In age diabetes or overweight, the body loses its sensitivity to insulin. The ETH-Spinn-off Glycemicon has developed an active ingredient which gives fetal cells their responsiveness and leads to a functioning glucose control. In the form of a “medical food”, eg as a capsule, the active substance THBA, a bile acid occurring in the human body and in various foodstuffs, is to contribute to a healthy metabolism and to ensure a normal blood glucose level.
