Saving Time and Money with 3D Concrete Printing
The construction sector is a very traditional business that suffers from low digitalization and poor productivity. Notably, custom-made concrete products are very expensive, time consuming and resource intensive due to the cost and use of molds. In fact, almost 80% of the costs stem from the mold fabrication.
The Fribourg based startup Mobbot has developed a unique 3D concrete printing technology using a fully automatized system that can print a cubic meter of concrete product within just a couple of minutes. In addition, they have fully digitalized the process from the conception to the fabrication, thereby completely eliminating mold production or paper work.
„I really want to reshape the whole construction industry with Mobbot.“ – Agnes Petit
The technology developed and patented by Mobbot remains unmatched by any other current 3D printing solutions when it comes to speed and a smooth surface condition. Mobbot uses affordable and conventional concrete and is the only one that allows the integration of passive reinforcement.
The startup’s vision is to provide 3D concrete printing robots on jobsites all over the world and to digitalize the whole value chain. This saves time, costs only a quarter of the price, and reduces waste by 30%.
Agnes Petit graduated from ETH Zurich with a PhD in cosmochemistry, worked for concrete producer Holcim and Creabeton, a manufacturer of concrete structures. That’s where she acquired the knowledge and the tools she needed to found her company, Mobbot.
