Intuitive and Accessible 3D CAD Tool
There are three main problems in today’s CAD industry:
- The technology itself is complex and can only be used by skilled and highly trained experts. The programs are not intuitive and learning CAD takes time and costs money.
- The access is cumbersome, the solutions are platform dependent, one needs expensive hardware and there are limitations to collaboration and file exchange.
- The price is high, often SMEs can’t afford the technology.
Mirrakoi offers a new, intuitive 3D CAD technology and collaboration platform in a web browser. This allows users to easily access the the technology, create complex surfaces fast and intuitively, collaborate and share different models, thus saving money and time.
„When our clients say ‚Thank you for what you’re doing, you’re making our lives easier.’ This is what keeps us going every day.“ – Daniel Schmitter
With its technology, the EPFL spinoff makes high-end 3D design for industrial and product modeling accessible to everyone. The backbone of Mirrakoi’s solutionis a fundamentally new approach to the mathematical description of 3D objects. While current solutions propose a “marionette”-like object design, touching the surfaces through remote control points, Mirrakoi’s technology allows the direct control of objects, similar to holding and shaping objects in our hands.
The three founders are Daniel Schmitter, who has a PHD in engineering from EPFL, Zsuzsanna Püspöki, PhD in CAE and computational image analysis from EPFL and Pablo Garcia-Amorena, who holds masters degrees in Computational Science and Engineering from EPFL as well as in Industrial Engineering (UPC).
